devCentral is the official resource for wireless development at AT&T, and AuthenTec has been a devCentral member since 2006.   AT&T currently supports multiple broadband laptops which include AuthenTec sensors.  Additional information about biometrics including a devCentral webcast featuring AuthenTec can be found on the devCentral website.  

 

As a member since 2008, AuthenTec is leveraging the power of the GSMA to further its mission of educating the wireless industry on the value of biometrics in mobile phones and broadband laptops.  Working within the Security Working Group, AuthenTec is helping the GSMA and its members understand the benefits of integrating our technology to provide advanced security for mobile phones. 

 

Jabil and AuthenTec executed a joint development agreement to deliver next-generation technology solutions to the mobile phone market.  The two companies have combined their expertise to dramatically reduce integration time for OEMs that are incorporating AuthenTec’s smart sensor technology into their mobile phone products.  The first Jabil-AuthenTec offering is the Smart Navi-Key, which combines AuthenTec’s smart sensor technology with a Sunarrow durable keymat in an all-in-one keypad built by Jabil | Green Point.  It can be easily integrated into smart phones, PDAs and a range of other mobile devices. 

 

 

AuthenTec Alliance member Microsoft is helping bring AuthenTec’s Power of Touch to millions of cell phone users who depend on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system to navigate the multiple features and functions of their fingerprint-enabled phones.  AuthenTec and Microsoft have teamed up to develop software and drivers that supports users of these feature-packed phones.

 

As a premium member of the Orange Partner Program, AuthenTec is accelerating the use of biometrics and sensor applications across mobile phones and broadband laptops.  Having launched the first biometrically-enabled mobile phone in Europe, the HTC P6500 with the AuthenTec AES 1510 sensor, Orange is continuing its leadership position in bringing new and advanced technology to their subscribers.  

 

Cell phone technology leader Qualcomm is an AuthenTec Alliance partner and a leading provider of chipsets for today’s mobile phones.  As a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies,. AuthenTec and Qualcomm have integrated their technologies on a variety of mobile handsets throughout the world.

 

AuthenTec Alliance member Renesas develops microcontrollers that perform fingerprint recognition functions in cell phones, smart cards and other fingerprint-enabled mobile devices.  Renesas controllers such as the AE330, AE340, AE43C and AE45C make AuthenTec sensors easy to integrate into a host of today’s mobile platforms.

 

Softex International is a leading supplier of innovative security and software products and solutions for computing devices.  Softex’s OmniPass software works with AuthenTec’s sensors to enable cell phone users to securely and conveniently manage logins and passwords and encrypt files with the simple swipe of a finger.

 

Nokia subsidiary Symbian Limited has partnered with AuthenTec on the development of 18 different fingerprint-enabled cell phone models encompassing more than 7 million phones.  Symbian is a leading provider of operating systems that bring unprecedented capabilities to the majority of today’s high-end feature phones.  Every fingerprint-enabled device based on a Symbian OS today uses an AuthenTec sensor.

 

Texas Instruments' Open Multimedia Application Platform (OMAP) is a proprietary microprocessor for many of today’s mobile phones.  AuthenTec Alliance partner TI makes OMAP processors which perform many functions on these phones including the processing and authentication of fingerprint patterns captured by AuthenTec fingerprint sensors on certain fingerprint-enabled phones.  OMAP processors help to ensure that only pre-enrolled users can access the sensitive private information stored on their fingerprint-enabled mobile phones.

 


PCs and Peripherals

 

Shenzhen, China-based Aratek is a leading provider of biometric identification software and hardware development and production.   Aratek and AuthenTec recently teamed up to create a modular USB fingerprint sensor solution called the ifingo FRS120 that uses AuthenTec’s small AES1610 sensor for convenient security features like password elimination and file/folder encryption for today’s laptop and desktop PCs. 

AuthenTec Alliance member BIO-key International, a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety, provides software that enhances the AuthenTec fingerprint sensor user experience.  BIO-key provides fingerprint matcher software and offers its WEB-key fingerprint identification software development kit which is tailored for Web-based applications. WEB-key gives solution architects, integrators and application developers the tools to quickly integrate convenient and secure biometric user identification into practically any application.

 

Cypress and AuthenTec collaborated on a reference design that provides everything a platform designer needs to add biometric security to external hard disk drives using fingerprint recognition technology.  The reference design utilizes the AuthenTec AES2510 fingerprint sensor and Cypress's EZ-USB FX2LPTM, the industry's most popular high-speed USB 2.0 microcontroller, which interfaces with AuthenTec's sensor and delivers data from the HDD to the host computer.

 

Digital Defense Group (DDG) is a developer of integrated biometric identification devices that incorporate fingerprint, RFID, and an on-board operating and file system. DDG offers a complete suite of software and hardware solutions for building and network identity access. DDG’s portfolio includes its Factor4 product, which integrates AuthenTec’s fingerprint sensor technology into a handheld, credit-card sized device, facilitating both logical (computer) and physical (building) access upon successful on-card biometric identity verification.   

 

AuthenTec Alliance partner Digital Persona is a leading provider of fingerprint software that allows a simple swipe of the finger to replace passwords, facilitate parental control, and protect personal files.  AuthenTec and DigitalPersona recently teamed with Dell to create a complete security solution that offers peace of mind and enhanced PC functionality, putting enterprise-like security into the hands of faithful Dell consumer laptop users.  More than 90 million PC users around the world depend on DigitalPersona’s easy-to-use software application. 


Imprivata offers single sign-on solutions that leverage AuthenTec’s fingerprint sensors by adding strong authentication management that enhances end user workflows. Imprivata’s new OneSign solution enables customers to leverage workflow-centric enhancements and take advantage of a wider array of authentication factors to ensure security best practices, while gaining greater user productivity.  When combined with AuthenTec sensors, OneSign provides customers the ability to leverage the embedded biometric sensors for complete enterprise and shared deployability.

 

KSI is the world leader in Strong Authentication to secure network access.  KSI's keyboards feature programmability as well as integrated biometric fingerprint readers, Xyloc Lock, HID readers, smart card readers and magnetic card readers.  Multiple devices allow for dual factor authentication and replacement of passwords for network logon.  KSI is compatible with most major SSO providers such as Computer Associates (CA), Imprivata, Actividentity and other SSO providers.  KSI's focus is to work with the customer to learn their individual challenges and provide unmatched customer service and products.

 

AuthenTec has worked closely with Microsoft on the development of the Windows Biometric Framework within its next operating system, Windows 7.  The Windows Biometric Framework allows developers of fingerprint management applications to work with supported fingerprint sensors in systems using Windows 7, providing ease of fingerprint sensor integration for PC manufacturers and a more consistent user experience. The native support Microsoft is providing for fingerprint sensors in Windows 7 underscores the growing adoption of fingerprint sensors as a highly valued feature in today’s most innovative PCs.

 

Oki Electric Industry Co. developed a fingerprint authentication solution using AuthenTec's patented TruePrint technology that reduces time to market for developers of fingerprint sensor applications.  OKI created a reference design that includes an OKI microcontroller, an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor and a fingerprint matching algorithm from Precise Biometrics that allows customers to easily create a cost effective high-speed, high-accuracy, low power consumption fingerprint authentication system. 


AuthenTec Alliance member Precise Biometrics AB offers solutions for fingerprint recognition to prove people's identities. With expertise in fingerprint verification, Precise Biometrics offers fast, accurate and secure authentication of a person via its ID card and bank card programs and systems for access control to buildings, computers and networks.  This leading developer of biometric hardware and software has licensed its technology to more than 80 million users throughout the world.

 

 

 

AuthenTec and Privaris collaborated on a series of fingerprint-enabled personal tokens, the Privaris plusID product lineup.  These secure, wireless devices transform biometric security as we know it today.  Privaris plusID is the world's first personal biometric fingerprint token, and is one device that provides secure access to multiple facilities, computers and networks.

 

Softex and AuthenTec partnered to integrate AuthenTec’s sensors with Softex software in order to allow PC and cell phone users to securely and conveniently manage authentication for secure login and secure access to websites and favorite applications.  The collaboration provides a powerful combination of secure and convenient password management.   

 

Unigen Corporation manufactures USB fingerprint sensor modules based on AuthenTec's slide fingerprint sensors.  Unigen’s IRUS and ARGUS family of modules offer the smallest footprint in the industry that fits neatly in embedded applications and into a sleek USB POD package that’s pre-certified to reduce time-to-market and eliminate the need for costly design and compliance resources. Unigen’s modules allow OEMs to quickly and easily adopt fingerprint security into a host of PC and other applications.
